Fire is at the heart of cooking - grilling, smoking, and roasting. We exist to refine these crafts. Our Pitmasters are experts in the art of slow-smoking and cooking. The magic lies in the fuel - seasoned wood from various regions such as Georgia Pecan, Tennessee Hickory, and Texas Oak, along with Mesquite Charcoal from Mexico. Our menu features American BBQ and regional Southern California favorites infused with global influences.

Lisa Richards, the Founder, CEO, and BBQ Diva and influencer in the San Diego BBQ scene and driven by her lifelong fascination with fire and smoke. Her father instilled in her a passion for BBQ and live fire grilling, starting at the tender age of 9 when she learned to grill a T-bone steak. Since that moment, Lisa has dreamt of becoming a BBQ champion and has never wavered in her pursuit.
Inspired by her father’s influence, Cowgirl Q was established with a vision to bring premium BBQ to San Diego, using cherished family recipes dating back to pioneer times and covered wagons. Her dedication to preserving these family recipes wasn't just a personal endeavor; it was also a way to pass down a rich culinary heritage to her two sons, Blake and Taylor.
